Regulation of Stress Granules in Wild-type and VCP Mutant Neurons
The Moon Lab studies how genetic causes of ALS such as VCP mutations interfere with the stress response in neurons. In this proposal, we seek to determine how RNA structures called stress granules are assembled and disassembled in wild-type and VCP mutant human neurons. We are using microscopy, stem cell technology, and molecular biology approaches. The goal of this research is to identify molecular mechanisms of ALS that could be therapeutic targets.
